Título: Accuracy and precision in neutron activation a-nalysis of uranium

Resumo: Coal samples were irradiated with epithermal neutrons and the uranium content was determined by counting separately the 106, 228 and 277 keV γ-ray of sup(23,)Np and the 18.3 keV X-ray of sup(23,)Pu. The best results were obtained by counting the 106 keV γ-ray in a Ge low-energy photon detector. Counting the 277 keV γ-ray in a Ge(Li) detector also gives good results providing the coal ash content is not higher than 50%.
